Sun Metals’ team marks important anniversary
In May this year, Sun Metals recognised a group of employees who have spent twenty years or more working with Sun Metals. Almost 20% of the team working at Sun Metals have twenty or more years of service with the company.
CEO Kiwon Park said he was proud of the Sun Metals team, and credits this team as the key ingredient in making it a great place to work.
“We are very proud of the team we have built here at Sun Metals,” said Mr Park. “I think it is a testament to our culture of mateship that so many have decided to spend most of their career with us.”
“We believe it is really special to consider over fifty of our employees have contributed so many years to our team,” said Mr Park.
“Their commitment to Sun Metals, to the Townsville community and to each other is something to be cherished.”
Mr Park also said the Sun Metals teams’ commitment to community extended beyond the refinery itself.
“We’ve seen first-hand that the commitment of our team extends beyond the refinery into the Townsville community at large,” said Mr Park.
“Many remember when Townsville was hit by floods in 2019. We had a number of our employees volunteer their time and use equipment from the plant to help others in the Townsville community.”
“It’s that notion of community and our position within Townsville and North Queensland as well that makes Sun Metals such a special place,” Mr Park said.
“We are very proud of our team, and congratulate those who are marking anniversaries with us this year.”
Sun Metals respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we work and live. We pay respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures Elders past, present and emerging.
