Community
At Sun Metals, we are dedicated to investing in a brighter future for our community, ensuring a lasting positive impact for generations to come. We are achieving this through sponsorships and collaborations with local charities, schools, and community organisations, supporting educational programs and health-related initiatives.
Our employees have the option to donate to local charities through Wellspring, our Good2Give Workplace Giving program. Through Good2Give, Sun Metals are able to double the impact of normal donations by matching our employees' donation.
You can learn more about our current community sponsorships and collaborations below, and if you'd like to discuss a future collaboration, please reach out to general.enquiries@sunmetals.com.au.
North Queensland Cowboys Community Partner
Head in the Game
Head in the Game is delivered under North Queensland Cowboys club’s Try Time! program influencing secondary school students to make positive individual choices. The modules give high school students the tools and confidence they need to speak up and tackle mental health challenges.
Cowboys in Capes
In collaboration with the North Queensland Cowboys, we are proud to be working with Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Townsville to bring cheer to North Queenslanders experiencing tough times in hospital. Through Cowboys in Capes, several players and team members from Sun Metals make regular visits to Townsville University Hospital and Ronald McDonald House, visiting patients and their families, spreading joy and helping them to stay positive.
NRL Cowboys House
NRL Cowboys House is a unique boarding facility offering complete wrap-around support for young Indigenous students from remote Queensland communities.
Sun Metals have proudly partnered with Cowboys Community Foundation for a while, and are proud to now hold a Friend of the House partnership with NRL Cowboys House, furthering our commitment to support Indigenous youth in North Queensland. This strategic relationship aims to empower young students, and provide mentorship to help shape successful, fulfilling futures.
Our partnership with NRL Cowboys House and Cowboys Community Foundation, the charity arm of the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, will see opportunities for career mentorship and development.
It also gives us a meaningful way to support young people who are the future of North Queensland, offering them the guidance and resources they need to thrive.
Salvation Army
Red Shield Appeal
For many years Sun Metals have sponsored the Salvation Army's Red Shield Appeal, helping deliver vital community programs and social services.
Every 17 seconds, the Salvation Army in Australia helps someone in need - they have walked alongside Australians for over 140 years — providing shelter, safety and support to those in need. Over the last year, they have assisted over 250,000 people and dispensed financial assistance worth almost $25 million dollars to Aussies impacted by crisis, disaster and hardship.
We are proud to sponsor them each year and attend the Salvation Army's Business Launch Breakfast with Townsville's business community as one of the major sponsors.
Sun Metals respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we work and live. We pay respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures Elders past, present and emerging.
